Artificial intelligence technology has become a major player in modern business security. Scimone advised involving diverse expertise to ensure responsible AI. "You want to make sure that you're creating more good with the technology than potential harm. Both of those things need to be weighed - the potential business value and the organizational outcomes that you're going to achieve. But sometimes, you will want to make sure that the data you're collecting is appropriate, not excessive," Scimone said.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Scimone also discussed:

  • Upskilling the security workforce to adapt to the AI-driven landscape;
  • The significance of understanding basic security principles before integrating AI into business operations;
  • Dell's initiatives in promoting AI safety and security.

At Dell Technologies, Scimone leads the company’s global corporate security and resiliency programs. Prior to Dell, he served as the global CISO for the Sony Group family of companies, where he was responsible for building Sony’s first global information security and privacy organization and leading strategy, policy and operations. Prior to that, he held a number of leadership positions at the U.S. Department of Defense.
