Mitigating Brand Impersonation Fraud

Social media analytics tools can play a key role in mitigating the risk of brand impersonation fraud, says Barika Pace, senior director analyst at Gartner.

"Social media analytics tools help you to monitor and listen. Monitoring is [finding out] what's happening. Listening is trying to get to the heart of why it happened," Pace says in an interview with Information Security Media Group.

In this interview (see audio link below photo), Pace also discusses:

  • The latest trends in brand impersonation fraud;
  • Where organizations are missing the mark in fighting this fraud;
  • Which technologies can play a role in mitigating the fraud risks.

As senior director analyst at Gartner, Pace does research focused on securing emerging technologies and protecting corporate branding for high-tech enterprises. Her research covers threats and disruptions facing IoT and social media, coupled with the realities of regulatory changes, privacy, fraud prevention and risk.
