"What we've looked at is everything from not just how to implement the FIDO specifications, but what's the right messaging to encourage a user to opt into FIDO authentication and what are the right visual cues," Shikiar says.
Shikiar is hopeful that a majority of consumer services will allow users to log on without a password within a few years. "It's a marathon, not a sprint, and we're making great progress," he says.
In a video interview with Information Security Media Group, Shikiar discusses:
- FIDO’s latest initiatives;
- How enterprises have changed their approach to monitoring and managing identities since the shift to remote working;
- FIDO's progress so far and gaps to address.
Shikiar is the executive director and chief marketing officer at the FIDO Alliance, a global consortium working to create open standards and an interoperable ecosystem for simpler, stronger user authentication. He previously led market development efforts for the Tizen Association, the LiMo Foundation and the Liberty Alliance Project.
