eSentire CEO Kerry Bailey on Using XDR to Cut Business Risk
How eSentire Used Its $325 Million Investment to Boost Customers' Cyber Resiliency
Managed risk services provider eSentire has used the $325 million it received in February to leverage data from its Atlas XDR platform and strengthen customers' positions around cyber resiliency.

The Waterloo, Canada-based company has used the capital infusion to shift its focus from alerts and data to business worries and business risk as eSentire has pushed from MDR into the XDR space, says CEO Kerry Bailey. The company has focused on building IP around detection and response and using data that's been ingested to its XDR platform to provide customers with insights around the biggest risks in their IT environment, Bailey says (see: Defense Against Downtime: The Case for MDR).
"We have our own IP around XDR," Bailey says. "There's a lot of really good tech companies that sell XDR products, but we use ours to drive that security outcome and a more resilient business for customers."

Bailey has more than 28 years of experience in the IT services sector. His executive experience spans security, managed services and cloud computing at Fortune 50 and early-stage growth companies. Before joining eSentire in January 2018, Bailey led the growth of private, public and hybrid clouds and the worldwide indirect channel at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Prior to Hewlett Packard, he held various senior executive roles at Verizon Enterprise, including CEO and president of Terremark and leader in global managed security services, data center colocation and cloud. His earlier roles include CEO of Betrusted and Security Assurance Group and various senior executive-level positions at Cybertrust and in the U.S. Intelligence Community.
